Throughout the years I have collected blue and white pottery in all shapes and sizes and just love how the different patterns play off each other when grouped together, creating an energetic and familiar contrast to any room. What fun would it be to make quilts and pillows that create the same effect, or that depict pottery, and this was the inspiration behind Something Blue.
Something Blue has 15 different pattern designs, some repurposed and some new. Most of them are offered in dark-on-light and light-on-dark, to create two colorways. A fun addition to the main collection and blenders is the border fabrics, which allow you to create more realistic patchwork pottery. There is also a fun design with quilt labels and ornaments for decorations in two colorways.
The projects are mainly inspired by pottery collections in keeping with the theme but bear in mind that blue and white works well with so many patterns. For example, just simple squares alternating light and dark fabrics would make a beautiful quilt. Ginger jars and bowls look great with flowers, so there is some appliqué included in this season’s projects. We are also adding a new quilted jacket pattern, so you can make lovely blue and white jackets – perfect with jeans or a sweet dress.
To make it easy to add fabric for appliqué flowers we decided to include a fat eighth appliqué flower bundle. Poppy Seed basics in dusty, earthy pastel tones provide perfect backgrounds to the crisp colors of the collection.
100% Cotton, 44" 112cm wide, sold by the Fat Quarter or multiples of 10cm, cut in one piece. Minimum order 30cm.
